Murder probe launched after woman, 61, found dead at London home

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found with fatal head injuries at a south-east London home.
The 61-year-old was discovered last night at a property on Oakwood Avenue, in Beckenham, after police were called at 11.08pm.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but officers ‘are confident’ that the victim is Diane Dyer.

Met Police said they believe Ms Dyer knew her attacker. Emergency services found the victim unresponsive and suffering from head injuries on arrival.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms Dyer’s next-of-kin have been informed.

No arrests have yet been made. A post-mortem examination is due to take place on later today.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell said: ‘This is a tragic incident and we are supporting Diane’s family at this difficult time. ‘I would like to reassure the community that this is thought to be an isolated incident and we believe Diane knew her attacker.

‘My officers are working around the clock to apprehend the person responsible, however we also need the public’s help.’
