Since her horrific grooming storyline in 2016, Bethany Platt (Lucy
Fallon) in Coronation Street has tried her best to get back to a normal life.
She is working at the Bistro and has focused a lot on putting the past behind
her. After realising how empty her own life is, soon horror returns for Bethany
as someone from her past turns up for dinner at the Bistro.
In 2016, Bethany was
groomed by Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) and was forced to sleep with Nathan’s
friends who were also giving Nathan money so that they could sleep with
Bethany.
Nathan planned to
sell Bethany abroad but when Nathan turned angry because Bethany failed to
steal her passport back from her mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien), Bethany realised the
true reality of her relationship with Nathan, and asked a stranger to call the
police at a service station in order to be saved.
Bethany is shocked when a family arrive for dinner at the Bistro
and she recognises the dad as a man from Nathan’s parties.
She confides in Daniel (Rob Mallard) but asks him to say nothing.
Bethany tells Daniel that she’s decided she’s going to write up her experience
with Nathan as it might help other girls to avoid falling into the same trap.
Daniel is impressed with her bravery. Poor Bethany hasn’t had it
easy, but is writing up her experience to help others the start of a more
positive storyline for Bethany and perhaps closure on everything she’s been
through?
