Drake
was full of surprises at last night’s OVO Fest as he brought out the likes of
Cardi B, Meek Mill and Offset during the music event’s final day.
The
In My Feelings rapper hosted his annual festival to the Budweiser Stage in
Toronto, Canada on Monday and had a few tricks up his sleeve, inviting several
of his favourite music peers to share the stage with him.
Cardi
B, 26, was among the surprise guests and arrived on stage to a rupture of
applause, but not before Drizzy showered her with the highest of compliments.
Speaking to the packed-out audience, Drake said: ‘I feel like it’s only right
that I say, that I exit the stage and leave you in the company of grace and
greatness.’ Flattered by the praise, Cardi shared a clip of the special moment
and told her 48.6 million followers: ‘Thank you @champagnepapi for bringing me
out at OVO fest !s**t was.
You
see I would do a CardiO fest in The Bronx but ya can’t even behave in Bity
Island [sic].’ Erm, a Cardi-O festival in the Bronx? We’re almost at JFK
Airport. Cardi, real name Belcalis Almanzar, performed her latest single Press
before launching into her hit debut single Bodak Yellow.
The
Grammy-winning rapper was then joined by her husband Offset for a joint
performance of their single Clout.
Offset
had flown into Toronto in style on a private jet – of course – and was joined
by rising rapper Lil Baby for the luxury trip.
Shortly
after landing in the city, Offset came across a billboard of his rap star wife
and let’s just say, what he did to the poster can never be unseen.
Meek
Mill made a triumphant appearance at OVO Fest, five years after Drake, 32,
slammed the rapper on the same stage in the midst of their nasty feud.
Of
course, they’re the best of friends now and Drake introduced Meek to the stage
with some kind words, telling the crowd: ‘I want you to make some noise for my
brother – he goes by the name of Meek Mill.’
We
certainly wouldn’t have had that five years ago.
Drake
also buried the hatchet with his former Young Money labelmate Tyga, who made a
surprise appearance at OVO Fest following years of public feuding.
Other
artists to appear included Chris Brown, Megan Thee Stallion and Rick Ross. This
year’s OVO Fest comes days after Drake released a new project, Care Package,
featuring a host of his popular past singles that do not appear on any of his
five albums.
